We prepare students in year 5 for the 11+Music Aptitude test
Students in year 5 have a dedicated theory class with a special program that supports their preparation for the Music Aptitude test held by the South West schools consortium
What is the Music Aptitude Test (MAT)?
It is a Music exam based on Aural training on different elements of Music: Pitch, Melody, Texture and Rhythm.
Our Approach
As Music school we normally run weekly theory classes in addition to individual instrumental lessons. When students reach year 5 we form dedicated theory classes that address through one academic year all the sections of the MAT and help students developing the skills needed to tackle the exam at their best. We provide plenty of Mock exams and dedicated tailored exercises. We also liaise with parents and run one lesson that involves them in January where we help them in understanding and supporting their children in the exam preparation.
